Look Inside Your Body Using VR

Look Inside Your Body Using VR

EchoPixel is a medical imaging start-up that lets doctors locate problem areas from CT scans by means of 3D glasses and a special display. CT scans are viewed in 2D, meaning they can’t see around making it harder to locate the exact problem. EchoPixel CTO Sergio Aguirre says “It’s really a shame that doctors are still using the same 2D images designed in 1880.” With the new technology, internal organs jump out of the screen like holograms giving doctors the ability to virtually examine a patient from any angle. The technology will radically improve healthcare for hospitals and is one of the most fascinating ways VR is entering into healthcare. EchoPixel has raised $5.8 million in seed investments, and is now selling 3 year subscriptions to its technology for $25,000 per year. Other competing companies include Surgical Theater & RealView.
